Emails do not reach our own mail

Emails are not reaching our own email address

TABLE OF CONTENTS

When we send an email to our mail server from a different mail server (using our own sender address), it is very common for our mail server to block it, so we never receive it. Don't worry, this happens a lot and the solution is very simple.

Problem: emails are not reaching our own email address

Our mail server and anti-spam systems allow you to configure a rule stating that any email arriving with the corporate domain is rejected if the sender's IP is not that of the organization's mail server or servers. It is similar to what SPF does, but with this configuration the emails are completely blocked in every case.

This is because spammers often put an address from the recipient's domain, or even the recipient's own email address, in the headers to try to trick them into opening the message because it seems trustworthy. The problem is that tests and newsletters sent from Mailrelay to our own corporate domain will not arrive if this rule is enabled on your mail server.

Solution: emails are not reaching our own email address

The solution is simple: just contact your company's IT department or your email administrator and:

  1. Explain what is happening with your emails, and
  2. Ask them to add these IP ranges to the whitelist and, if possible, to set up a rule so that emails arriving with your sender address from any of these IPs are accepted and the blocking described above is not applied.

Another solution would be to disable this rule, but this is not recommended, as we run the risk of spam messages that were previously stopped now being delivered.

However, if you have any questions about this, you can contact our support department.
