Import SMS Subscribers

Import SMS Subscribers

TABLE OF CONTENTS

In this tutorial, we will see how to import a list of subscribers to send SMS. It works in the same way as importing subscribers for email marketing, but it has some differences.

Step 1: Create the import file

The first step is to create a CSV file with the list of subscribers and the fields that we want to add separated by commas as you can see in the following example.

Example CSV file structure containing phone numbers and subscriber data

It is important to import it with the correct format so that it is detected correctly.

Country code + Area or zone code + telephone number

I'll give you some different examples per country.

Spain: +34600000000

In Spain there is no area code so only the country code (+34) and the telephone number (9 digits) would be included.

USA: +14080000000

Mexico: +525500000012

Once we have our CSV file we go to Mailrelay -> Subscribers -> Imports -> New import.

Clicking on the "New import" button will take us to a new screen in which we are presented with 3 types of imports:

  • Copy and paste
  • Upload Files (.csv,.txt)
  • Import from Mailchimp

Step 2: Import file in the import menu

Click on the "Upload files" option and drag the CSV file that we created earlier.

On the next screen, we have to check that the "Field" column matches our imported fields.

It is important that the format is completely readable.

Then we will have to select the group in which we will import the subscribers. It can be a group that we have already created or a new one.

And we will now have our list correctly imported and we can view it in the Subscribers -> Subscribers menu.

Let's now see how to send to our group of subscribers.

When accessing the campaign that we have created, it presents us with two shipping options:

  • Text List
  • Groups

Step 3: Send SMS to a group of subscribers

In the option you can select the group previously created with the imported contacts.

Once the group or groups we want have been selected, we simply click on send.

Step 4: Send SMS with copy and paste

In this option, a white box appears in which it asks us for the phone numbers to which we want to send.

Here, we will copy and paste the phone numbers preceded by the correct format as indicated above:

Country code + Area or zone code + telephone number

and it is necessary to add one phone per line as shown in the following example:

Once we have our list, click on send.
